I am delighted to write this endorsement for Chris Perrier-Evely for any role representing public education at the BCTF.

In my capacity as a professor at Vancouver Island University, I have had the pleasure of working closely with Chris over several years, first as a student, then as a colleague. I have supervised several students who have completed practica in his schools and have served on a local committee with him for the past two years.

Above all, Chris is a kind person. He is a caring, compassionate educator and a strong advocate for all learners. He is a role model for children and teachers alike and is leading the way for the rest of us as we try to open ourselves to more diverse perspectives in the schools of today.  He is active on social media and is not afraid to speak out on controversial issues, but always in a caring and professional manner.

Chris has inspired me to examine my own assumptions and biases and helped me to see that there are many ways to be a leader.  He is the epitome of the Ruth Bader Ginsberg quote, “Fight for the things you care about but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.” I wish him all the best in his quest to serve BC educators and children through action and advocacy.
